The main event took place on 9th May, when the RIC - Burgas, in partnership with the community cultural club "Izgrev 1909", organised an open air celebration on the occasion of Europe Day. The event included music, dances, a mobile library and many other attractions for all the citizens in the park of the Izgrev complex
The event was opened by Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, mayor of the municipality of Burgas. Students from three schools: the Dobri Chintulov secondary school of general education, the Georgi Benkovski primary school and the St. Kliment Ohridski primary school, as well as the children from the Morski pesachinki (sea sand) choir demonstrated impressive music and dance skills and talent.
While the sound of folk, rock and pop songs echoed from the stage, the visitors had the chance to feel the atmosphere and the wisdom of Europe by visiting some of the four tents located there. Young people as well as adults attempted to arrange the puzzle of the EU member-countries and had the opportunity to see the exposition "History of the EU", and to obtain knowledge and wisdom from European authors' thoughts written on cardboard star-shaped cut-outs.
Chess-tournament tables attracted the older, while the youngest ones were attracted by the ludo game. The visitors were challenged intellectually, as well as practically, by applied art works. Students from the Yordan Yovkov secondary school of general education demonstrated body art and professionals helped the public make jewellery out of clay, applications on cloth, napkins and others. The gusts' interest was also attracted by the collections of sugar bags, post cards and other souvenirs from different countries and cities in Europe, which were exhibited there.
The Regional Centre participated by deploying its mobile office and during the event it provided information about the European funds. On its part, the Community Cultural Club presented a special selection of books by European authors, translated in Bulgarian, as well as in their original editions in German, French and English languages. Information about the QR codes novelty was given to all interested readers.
