From 13 to 20 June 2013, a delegation of six representatives of the information network of Latvia were on an exchange of experience visit to the 28 information centres network for promoting the EU Cohesion policy in Bulgaria.
The Latvian experts visited the Regional Information Centres in Varna, Burgas and Dobrich. During their visit in Burgas, they were acquainted with the activities of the network, as well as with different best practices projects with European funding. The first activities presented to the Latvian guests in Burgas were on the "Development of socially significant spaces in support of the social integration and sustainable development of the urban environment in the municipality of Burgas" and especially the reconstructed and landscaped pedestrian zone in Alexandrovska Street, as well as the rehabilitated and developed New part of the Seaside Park.
At the same time, the guests were given the possibility to enjoy the fully renovated building of the Sea Casino Cultural Centre, which is emblematic of the city of Burgas. The renovation has been funded under the project Improvement of the Cultural Infrastructure in Burgas Municipality under the Operational Programme Regional Development 2007 - 2013. Later on the visitors from Latvia and the representatives of the Regional Information Centre Burgas visited the municipality of Pomorie where they viewed even better practices financed through the Operational Programmes, such as the Museum of Salt under the project "Pomorie - Tourist Attraction - a Town of Salt, Ancient History and Traditions", funded under the OPRD and the Pomorie Lake Visitor Centre established under the project "Urgent Measures for Restoration and Conservation of Species and Habitats of European Significance within the Complex of Protected Natural Areas of Pomorie Lake, implemented with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund of the EU and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through the Operational Programme Environment 2007-2013.
The visit ended with a presentation of the Latvian experience in promoting the possibilities provided by the EU within the framework of the RIC Third Coordination Meeting held between 19 and 21 June 2013, in the resort of Albena. The event was attended by more than 150 representatives of different information networks in Bulgaria.
