Dobrich Regional Information Centre (Dobrich RIC) welcomed colleagues from Latvia. The delegation included six experts from the information centres in Riga, Kurzemes and Zemgales.
The hosts presented to their guests the main activities and services of Dobrich RIC in promoting EU financing, as well as EU funds and programmes; a part of the information meetings held up to that point, as well as statistics on the number of information events and queries received in the period March 2012 - June 2013.
The visit to Dobrich continued with a tour of the Art Gallery, the Ethnographic House, as part of the project "Yovkov's Dobrich: a Modern Tourist Destination", funded under Operational Programme Regional Development, and the Nature and Animal Protection Centre funded under the Romania - Bulgaria Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007 - 2013.
Engineer Nadezhda Petkova, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Dobrich, presented good practices derived from projects successfully implemented by the town of Dobrich and projects in progress under the respective Operational Programmes. The interest of the audience was aroused by the water cycle project of the town of Dobrich, as well as by the way in which the municipality managed it on its own. The Latvian colleagues shared the fact that there were no more than ten projects worth over EUR 50 000 in their country and that these were on a national level.
The closing event of the meeting between the representatives of Dobrich RIC and the Latvian information centres was a visit to a confectionery production company in Balchik. The firm had successfully implemented a project under Operational Programme Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy for design and introduction of a Standard for Food Safety Management and Equipment Supply.
