EU Structural Funds

The team of the Kardzhali Regional Information Center hosted a meeting with disadvantaged children and adults, with their parents, social workers and attendants. The activities of the Center and the opportunities provided by Operational Programme Human Resources Development (OP HRD) for persons with disabilities were presented at the workshop. The experts presented the social services rendered by the Nadezhda Day-Care Centre, which had been renovated and equipped with facilities under a project funded by the Operational Programme Regional Development and implemented by Kardzhali Municipality. Information was provided about the Orfei (Orpheus) Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration for people with mental disabilities, as well as about the "Support for a Change" Project, implemented under the Help at Home grant scheme of OP HRD. The people attending the event shared their experience and raised a number of issues concerning the legislation, funding and actual fulfillment of persons with disabilities. The team of the Information Centre articulated its desire for future assistance and joint initiatives in support of disadvantaged individuals.
