Today, in the day of the National Revival Leaders in the office of Kyustendil District Information Point in the town of Kyustendil, the winners of the regional stage of the Children's picture contest "How I would like the European Union to change my town" were announced and awarded. The initiative for this contest is held under the auspices of the Minister of EU Funds Management Tomislav Donchev. Its organizer is the Central Coordination and Information Office to the Administration of the Council of Ministers and the 27 District Information Points.
The awards of the winners in the regional stage of the contest were handed-in in person by the District Governor Mr. Vladislav Stoykov. The event was attended by the Secretary of Kyustendil Municipality Mrs Tsvetanka Christova, the Director of Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov the Master" - Mr. Mihail Kaldaramov, representative of the jury, parents and children.
The first for the age group from 6 to 10 years was ranked Simona Stoyneva, a IV-th grade student in "Neophit Rilski" Secondary School, town of Dupnitsa. As the winner for the age group from 11 to 12 years Niya Petrova was ranked, a student in "St.St. Cyril and Methodius" Primary School, town of Kyustendil.
The winners received charters and MP3-players and their pictures will compete in the national stage out of which winners will be selected on 21 December 2012. All other participants from the region are provided with charters and encouraging awards.
The pictures from the Regional stage of the contest were assessed by a jury composed by: Asen Evtimov - Art Inspector in the Regional inspectorate of Education with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, Jordanka Abadzhieva, Ivo Jordanov and Evgeni Serafimov, teachers in Visual Arts and Svetla Aleksandrova - representative of Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov the Master", town of Kyustendil.
8130 children in total from all over the country participated in the contest, out of which 286 participants were from Kyustendil District. Pictures of children from the towns of Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, Bobovdol and Sapareva Banya, the villages of Nevestino, Krainitsi and Yahinovo were received. "Among the dreams and ideas shared by them in their pictures, they have drawn mainly children and sports playgrounds, well-built residential districts with many green areas, fountains, amusement parks, cinemas, theatres", the Manager of Kyustendil District Information Point Mrs. Lyubomira Velinova said, inviting everyone to see the children's pictures arranged today and tomorrow on a special exhibition in the office of Kyustendil District Information Point (the building of Community Point "Bratstvo" in the town of Kyustendil).
