Meetings in Dupnitsa and Kyustendil were the closing items of the second round of information and explanatory events carried out this year by the team of the Kyustendil Regional Information Centre (RIC) in the nine municipalities of the district in the period 23 May - 13 June 2013. The meetings were dedicated to the topic "The pathway of a successful project: lessons learned and good practices implemented in the outgoing programming period 2007 - 2013". The information events were attended by a total of over 160 representatives of local administrations, schools, kindergartens, community centres, non-governmental organizations and individual stakeholders. The participants in each of the meetings received information on major steps towards the successful design and management of projects under the operational programmes. Special attention was attached to the principal and auxiliary documents associated with project preparation and management, such as Council of Ministers decrees relevant to project implementation, manuals and guidelines, instructions and methods, etc. "One of the crucial aspects of project proposal development is the complete and precise description of the logical elements of the project: objectives, results, activities and resources", stressed the speaker at the meetings and added that an important point was the compliance of the project with the objectives, prioritirs and formal requirements of the respective operational programme. Among the highlights of the information events were also the discussions on the common mistakes in the design and implementation of projects. Practical recommendations for avoiding them were made. It was pointed out that one of the most common mistakes was the incomplete package of the project proposal documentation. The attendees were familiarized with successfully implemented projects financed from the EU funds. Information on currently effective options for applying under operational programmes was also part of the agenda of the information events. The experts of Kyustendil RIC reminded the participants that applications were still accepted under the "Closer to work" and "back to work" schemes of the Human Resources Development Operational Programme. The people attending the meetings were also informed about the two procedures open for applications under Operational Programme Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy: "Introduction of innovations in enterprises" and "Energy efficiency and green economy". The main objective of the "Introduction of innovations in enterprises" scheme is to boost the effectiveness and competitiveness of the Bulgarian enterprises by rendering support for the introduction of innovative products (goods or services) and processes with a potential for successful commercialization. The experts of Kyustendil RIC imparted the information that the Energy Efficiency and Green Economy procedure primarily sought to provide support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria for transitioning to green economy" by encouraging the implementation of projects directly involving the application of energy saving technology and introduction of renewable energy sources, implementation of technology for reducing the energy intensity of production, as well as measures for refining processes in enterprises and energy management.
