Information on the European Union, on the EU funds and the
options for active involvement of young people in projects con-financed from the EU Structural and Cohesion Funds were presented in a series of visits to schools
conducted by the team of Kyustendil Regional Information Centre (RIC) in the period between 23 April and 12 June 2013.
During their meetings with students the experts of Kyustendil RIC presented the major principles, priorities and financial instruments of the EU Cohesion Policy and
highlighted the role of this policy for surmounting the disparities in the economic and social development of
the Member States and regions in the European Union. A presentation was also made
on the options provided by the EU Structural and Cohesion Funds in the current programming period via the seven operational programmes in Bulgaria with a focus on the projects "Student scholarships" and "Pupil and student practices", which are being implemented by
the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, with the funding coming from
the Human Resources Development Operational Programme

Part of the visits were also joined by representatives of the Kyustendil Career
Orientation Centre created under the System for Career
Orientation in School Education project. The action is being executed with
the financial support of the Human Resources Development
Operational Programme 2007-2013, co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund. The objective of this project is to
create a system for career orientation
in school education for attaining consistency
between the national and the EU policy on life-long orientation in the District.
The team of the Kyustendil Regional Information Centre plans to conduct a new round
of meetings with students in the next school year for the purpose of continuing
the promotion of EU options targeting youths.
