On 10 December 2012, the town of Kovachevtsi held an information day organized by the Regional Information Center - Pernik. With this meeting, the fourth cycle of visits to community centers in the region, dedicated to the promotion of the new programming period 2014 - 2020 was completed.
Stoyan Yotov - European Funds expert presented the key documents and priorities for the next programming period. "In the new programming period we will have a common strategic framework to manage all European funds through common rules. The aim of the new regulation is to reduce disparities in development between various regions. The two main objectives of the Structural and Cohesion Fund - 'Investment for growth and jobs" and "European territorial cooperation" are formulated under this principle".
Jotov stressed the importance of local action groups (LAGs). "In the coming programming period 2014-2020 the community-led local development, known as the Local Development within the Leader approach in the Program for Rural Development, will now be supported by all funds in the new Common Strategic Framework of EU funds. LAGs will have a key role in rural development, where Kovachevtsi has its place. The Leader approach can play an important role in encouraging innovative solutions to old and new problems in rural areas and test new ways to meet the needs of communities in these areas. Therefore people with vision for the development of the region should be actively involved in the creation of the Local Initiative Group and the Local Development Strategy.
At the meeting it was explained that funding for project ideas can be also sought through other financial mechanisms of the European Economic Area. For example, the Norwegian program, which started recently, announced call for proposals under the motto "Innovations in the green industry". It will be funded by technologies that are less harmful to the environment than the technology used today.
