On May 08, 2013, the Regional Information Center - Pernik was the organizer and host of the "Hour of Europe." The forum was attended by representatives of European clubs from Professional School of Economics (PSI), School of Foreign Languages (Language School) and Nature and Maths High School (NMHS) of Pernik. The youngest club started by NMHS, retold the story of the European Union since its founding to the present day with a presentation prepared with a lot of dynamics and arstistism.
Special guest of the meeting was Milva Mihailova - student of European studies at Sofia University. With satisfaction she mentioned that the students not only have learned a lot about the EU, but also skillfully use difficult terminology.
With pride and a great sense of responsibility Tsvetanka Dragomirova - Head of the first Pernik European club "We and Europe" told the story and the idea of the creation of the organizations. NMHS is the first school in the town of Pernik, which created its own European club. Back in 2000 the Pernik club, along with 16 clubs from Sofia, Plovdiv, Dobrich and Dupnitza, took part in the formation of the National Association of Bulgarian European Clubs (NABEC). The NGO carries out a thorough, organized and targeted educational and training process to build a positive personality change in students and formation of attitude toward events in our society. In 2012 it was decided to form a network of Euro-clubs in the district town, which includes NMHS, the Language School, Professional School of Tourism and clothing, and 10th and 13th elementary schools. With its activities the network helps to acquire knowledge, skills and qualities leading to improvement in young people and teachers for the understanding of rights and opportunities in the open European society and the adoption of appropriate responsibilities, i.e. formation of individuals with active citizen position.
With the motto "United in diversity", the team of RIC - Pernik presented a film with a different interpretation of the EU. Displaying were national characteristics, traditions, cuisine, iconic buildings and landmarks in each of the 27 Member States.
In conclusion of the meeting, Elena Tzolova - Manager of Information Center held a quiz with school students. In tough match the young Europeans demonstrated great knowledge and observation abilities.
Participants in the hour devoted to Europe left with well-deserved awards, new knowledge and the promise of new meetings and euro-initiatives.
