The leading organisation under the projects "School for each Child" is the non-for-the-profit organisation "Association Integro", and partners there are the Primary Comprehensive School "Ivan Turgenyev" in Razgrad and the Secondary Comprehensive School "St Cyril and St Methodius" in Zavet. The project is financed from Development of Human Resources Operative Programme and co-financed by the European Social Fund. Its length is 12 months, and the overall budget exceeds 184 thousand Bulgarian leva. The Project Manager is Mr Kamen Makaveev, a pedagogies.
With the implementation of the project activities, some schoolchildren of Roma origin fallen out of the educational system are motivated and assisted to get back to school and educated there. The efforts are aimed at schoolchildren from the ethnic minorities in four Municipalities of the Razgrad Province (Razgrad, Isperih, Kubrat and Zavet) and in three of the Rousse region (Byala, Vetovo and Slivo Pole). The efforts address school children and teachers, directors of schools, and parents.
In order to assist the efforts made by the social workers or teachers, 7 community workers have already been employed under projects. They work with the parents to be able to address a variety of their problems and so to improve the environment for raising their children. If there is a legal issue then a lawyer may be ensured to handle the family. A psychologist may work with the families if appropriate.
Up to date were visited 207 families, having identified 61 schoolchildren fallen out from school. Evaluations were made to the status and individual work plans with 15 families were drafted. Trainings with teachers were conducted in three schools and five trainings were provided to assigned community workers.
Seminars are due to be made in the seven Municipalities to be led by Professor Ivan Ivanov from the Episkop Konstantin Preslavski University of Shumen. The expert in ethnic and demographic issues at the Municipality of Razgrad, Mr Kadrin Hasanov, is to advise the teachers in the process of preparation of individual curricula.
As a result, it is expected to get back to school 32 children who had permanently fallen out from the educational system.
