The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov and Mayor of Lom Municipality Penka Penkova signed a contract for the strengthening of landslides with funds from Operational Program Environment (OPE) 2014-2020. The implementation of the project will prevent landslide processes on an area of 18 hectares and will increase the protection of the lives and health of more than 2,000 people.

The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov and the mayor of Montana Zlatko Zhivkov signed a contract for improving the quality of the ambient air in the municipality. This is the first project under the OP "Environment" (OPE) for real investment measures addressing the main source of air pollution - domestic heating.

At the thirteenth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the OP "Environment", Methodologies and Criteria for three new Program Procedures were adopted in the sectors "Waste" and "Natura 2000 and Biodiversity".

The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov and the mayor of Lom Municipality Penka Penkova signed a contract for construction of a composting installation. Under the project a facility for the processing of separately collected green and/or biodegradable waste generated on the territory of the municipality will be built. The plant has a capacity of over 3000 tons per year and will serve approximately 25,000 inhabitants.

At the end of 2017 the Sofia Metro Extension Projecthas been ranked among the Top 10 most successful infrastructure projects, co-funded by the European union. Since then it has often been given as a good example at different events and forums.

Circular economy and air cleanliness with emphasis on electromobility will be a priority in the preparation of the next programming period of Operational Programme Environment (OPE). This was announced by the Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov to the deputies from the National Assembly's Environment and Water Committee at an external meeting in Bansko, organized by the Committee Chairman Ivelina Vassileva. The Minister briefed the Commission on the progress of the implementation of the 2014-2020 OPE and on the preparation of the next programming period.

Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov signed contracts with the municipalities of Gabrovo, Galabovo and Svilengrad for the prevention and management of the flood risk of the Sinkevitsa, Haidushk kladenche and Kalandikka dams. The projects will be implemented under Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020".

Municipalities to start work on the transition to a circular economy and adaptation to climate change, Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov called on "European, national and local priorities" forum within the 32 rd General Assembly of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria. He pointed out that this will be the main priorities in the new programming period of the Operational Program "Environment" (OPE). The idea of ​​a circular economy is to utilize as much waste as possible by turning it into raw material or energy and minimizing the amount of landfilled waste.

The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov signed a contract for the construction of an anaerobic installation for separately collected biodegradable waste on the territory of the Burgas region. The aim of the project is to provide infrastructure and a system for separate collection of biodegradable municipal waste in the municipalities of Burgas, Nessebar and Pomorie.
