Pleven invests in environmentally friendly electrical transport funded by OP Environment

The Minister of Environment and Water Mr. Neno Dimov, the Mayor of Pleven Mr. George Spartansky and the Manager of Trolleybus Transport EOOD Mr.Angel Nestorov have signed an agreement for provision of public electric transport in the municipality of Pleven.

The project is funded by the Operational Program Environment 2014-2020 (OPE). The total amount of the investment is BGN 18 million. OPE provides BGN 15 million.

The project will provide 14 new electric buses and 14 charging stations. Installation of the stations for slow loading of the buses in both depots is envisaged - trolleybus depot at 4 Kichevo Street and trolleybus depot in the residential complex 53 Druzhba, 53, Alexander Malinov Str. The entry into service of the new vehicles will be optimized by integrating and merging the newly acquired electric buses with the existing intelligent transport systems of the public urban transport in Pleven.

The execution of the project will reduce emissions of fine particulate matter (PM10) created by the means of public transport from 0.43 to 0.33 tones per year. The implementation of the activities will contribute to the improvement of the air quality for more than 95,000 citizens of Pleven municipality. The due period of the project is 40 months.
